Calie’s Method: Perspective changes everything
My method begins with the idea that where we place our focus determines our trajectory, hence the name “Eyes Up.” Lifting our gaze shifts the posture of our entire body, causing us to stand up a little taller, breathe a little deeper, and notice things that we couldn’t see when our eyes were downcast. I design my sessions by helping you first discover a new perspective about whatever it is that is drawing you to mentoring or coaching—to lift your proverbial Eyes Up—so you can begin to see yourself, your family, and your future in a new way. From there, I can work with you to begin to creatively brainstorm and plan for how to best facilitate growth and change in your family’s life. And then, I walk with you and your family throughout your journey, providing accountability and encouragement along the way.
I am passionate about mentoring the whole person: body, mind, and soul. As such, I incorporate Daniel Goleman’s Emotional Intelligence training, as well as yoga practices and meditative philosophies, into my mentoring and coaching styles. I work with you and/or your teen to identify your limiting beliefs, negative thought patterns, and behavioral habits that are keeping you from reaching a place of growth, while helping you to identify your essential values, core beliefs, and non-negotiables. As a licensed special education teacher, I have a wealth of knowledge and resources for families that will assist in the process.
As a therapeutic mentor and life coach, I specialize in the following areas:
Finding internal motivators
Re-entering life successfully after the pandemic
Managing life transitions
Coaching parents in how to coach their teen
Improving executive functioning skills, particularly for young adults (organization, time management, prioritization)
Unlearning bad or negative habits and replacing them with desired behaviors and patterns
Improving relationships and communication skills
Practically managing anxiety or fear
